Pope John Paul II's 7th pilgrimage to Poland. Pope greets citizens of Wadowice, his home town, in Wadowice, Poland, on June 16, 1999. Wadowice is a small town situated some 50 km away from Krakow known as the birthplace of Pope John Paul II. The central point of the town is the market square with the Basilicum NMP (Parish church), with the famous Baptismal basin where the Pope was baptized. Next to the church there is Pope's birthplace, where the Museum of Holy Father John Paul II is now located. It encompasses the former home of the Wojtyla family as well as the neighbouring rooms on the 1st floor. The Museum traces the Pope's childhood and his journey from Wadowice to the Holy See in Rome.
