President John Kennedy of the United States stands with British Prime Minister Mr. Harold Macmillan on a dais from which short speeches were made by both Western leaders before the President boarded his giant Boeing 707 jet airliner at Gatwick Airport for the flight to Italy. The President, who is on a whirlwind tour of Europe, stayed overnight with Mr. Macmillan at his Sussex home, Birch Grove, where they had informal talks. At the airport the Prime Minister seemed to be in a serious mood and was not seen to smile throughout the departure ceremony. June 30th 1963 PAR 103890-45 (L-B)
