Clashes erupted for the fifth day, around Tahrir square near Qasr al-Nil Bridge in Cairo, Egypt, on Monday January 28, 2013. Anti-Mursi protesters were out on the streets again in Cairo and elsewhere on Monday, the second anniversary of one of the bloodies days in the revolution. Police and some supporters of President Mursi tried to evict the young revolutionnary activists from this emblematic place. At least 20,000 protesters take over Qasr al-Nil Bridge, connecting Giza to Tahrir Square in downtown Cairo. Police fired hundreds of tear gas canisters which protesters picked up and threw them back at police and into the Nile. Plumes of smoke could be seen all the way from Downtown Cairo. Emergency rule announced by President Mohamed Mursi on Sunday covers the cities of Port Said, Ismailia and Suez. The army has already been deployed in two of those cities and cabinet approved a measure to let soldiers arrest civilians. Photo by Mohamed Hossam/AA/ABACAPRESS.COM
