FARM Pigs/Longleat

PREMIUM --

Longleat Safari Park Friday 6 April 2001, which is preparing to open to the public tommorrow, despite the foot-and-mouth outbreak. The park, which should have opened after the winter closure on March 24, is to allow the public to see the lion, tiger and wolf enclosures from Saturday. The Marquess of Bath is due to spend the morning welcoming the first visitors back to the safari park, which was opened by his father in 1966. The decision to open has been taken after consultation with MAFF, vets and local farmers and the situation is being reviewed regularly, head warden Keith Harris said. Watch for PA story.
