July 28, 2024, Odessa, Ukraine: Relatives and friends of prisoners of war hold placards expressing their opinion near the place where the monument to Catherine II was located during the demonstration ''Don't be silent! Captivity kills!'' Relatives and friends of prisoners of war held an action ''Don't be silent! Captivity kills!'' This time it was dedicated to the tragedy in Olenivka. The protesters held a rally on Deribasovskaya Street and marched through the streets of the city to European Square, where there once was a monument to the Russian Empress Catherine II (the monument to the Founders of Odessa). On 29 July 2022, during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, a building housing Ukrainian prisoners of war in a Russian-operated prison in Molodizhne near Olenivka, Donetsk Oblast, was destroyed, killing 53 to 62 Ukrainian prisoners of war (POWs) and leaving 75 to 130 wounded. The prisoners were mainly soldiers from the Azovstal complex, the last Ukrainian stronghold in the siege of Mariupol. (Credit Image: © Viacheslav Onyshchenko/SOPA Images via ZUMA Press Wire)
